Keep J. Bay or Cole Hamels?

Postby dmack1 » Mon Feb 09, 2009 2:26 pm

I can pick 2 keepers, none that were drafted in the first 3 rounds of last year's league. It is a 12 team league. It is a weekly head to head, no roto. I can start 5 SP and 2 RP.
I have decided to keep Lincecum.
I could keep Ichiro, Ludwick, Bay, BRoberts, or Hamels.

I have narrowed that down to either Hamels or Bay.

What do you think? Easy choice?

I have read rankings that put Lincecum as #3 SP and Hamels as #6. It would be nice to have 2 aces on my team guaranteed. Bay was listed as #30 hitter. Ichiro at #18 but I dont think Ichiro will have a good year and he is not as valuable because I am not in a roto.

Please advise.

More info required for best results. Your roster, Size of league, how many keepers would be a good start.

I am leaning towards Hamels over Bay.

I would keep Hamels. With the 2 aces you can focus on hitting for the first 6-7 rounds of the draft.

I would go with Hamels. I am one of the few it seems that isn't buying on Bay. I just don't know if he can do what he did last year over a full season. Hamels is a nice SP although I don't think I want him as my #1. I just have concerns about his ability to stay healthy. But when Hamels pitches he is one of the best.

i think i would take hamels as well, bay kind of scares me a little and atleast with hamels you know what you'll get. besides, everyone else in the league will be giving up a few good hitters aswell this way just concentrate on those guys.

:-?

2008 .286 avg, 31 hr, 101 rbi, 111 runs
2006 .286 avg, 35 hr, 109 rbi, 101 runs
2005 .306 avg, 32 hr, 101 rbi, 110 runs

he had a .894 ops with PIT, and a .897 ops with BOS. it's not like he got a lot better in boston.
