One thing to look at, in roto, is that you do not have to equal the top # for each cat.
What I'm saying is, winning, say, HR by 1 or 25 dingers means absolutely nothing.
This piece of advice may be more important during the season, but could be useful for preseason as well.

it's nice to know what it took to win every category, but you dont need 120 points to win a 5x5 league. usually the victor has 90-something points. getting 4th place in every cat gives you 90 points, so find out what is usually needed to take fourth, and aim for just over that.
