Porcello could be in the Opening Day rotation

Postby Grounded Polo » Sun Feb 08, 2009 11:00 pm

The Tigers' rotation has already filled four spots -- leaving one vacant spot open for Zach Miner, Nate Robertson and Dontrelle Willis to battle over.

It's tough competition that will only get stiffer after Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski told WXYT-FM 97.1 that highly touted prospect Rick Porcello will also be competing for the last spot in the rotation.

That would be the worst decision in a long list of bad decisions!

They could at least let him pitch in Double A and bring back his curveball or give him more time to see if his new approach won't limit his strikeouts.

I'm one of those guys who is usually all for thrusting a prospect to the majors if he's deserved (ie: not ready to stay but a gesture of confidence) it or earned it. Porcello has done nothing imo to warrant that. Now, if he pitches his way to the rotation in ST, fine. But I;d be more comfortable with him in A+-AA ball at least till mid-season.

It's nothing but hear say to get people interested in the team this year and in the future. They need it after last years terrible turn of events.
