WHEN TO DRAFT A CLOSER (WHIR)

Postby aaron1325714 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 8:27 pm

Okay so I am going to draft a team and just to keep this in mind I am a streamer(The term refers to the practice of adding and dropping pitchers every day in order to get the greatest possible number of starts. You can do it at other positions, too, and you can certainly do it in other fantasy sports) and will draft my team accordingly. For example, I am not going to draft any pitchers only hitters and closers.

SO my question to you is when should i draft a closer. Should i draft them when everyone else is going after starting pitchers or later on.

Thank you for your time and concern.

So much depends on the draft. I always like to get one stud closer. This is a guy that is almost a lock for 40 saves and to last all season. Papelbon and KRod usually lead this category. Then I wait and see what happens. When I run out of hitters/starters that I really want then I take a closer. If you don't take a starter then I think you could gamble early and a couple more times just to get solid RP. Maybe go after Papelbon knowing that you will be able to keep taking hitters when the SP start going off the board. Then about the 12th - 15th round start going after a couple more.
