Trade Scenerio. WHIR!!

Postby chargerss24 » Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:44 pm

Hey guys. I'm in a 12-team roto (standard + OBP/Holds) auction keeper league and our keeper values are now locked in. I'm currently $2.00 over the $26 budget. I'm strong in pitching, but rather 'ho hum' in offense. Looking to make improvements there, while get at or under $26 before our auction in March. We can keep all we want in our active lineup as long as we don't over our budget. Here's my team:

C- Navarro ($0.10), Clement (($0.10)
1B - Fielder ($2.90)
2B - Cano ($1.50)
SS - Rollins ($1.20) ;-D
3B - Longoria ($1.80)
MI - Kendrick ($0.80)
CI - Adam LaRoche (($0.60)
OF - Bruce ($0.90), Rios ($1.80), Markakis ($2.60) :-t
U - Ellsbury ($1.70), Sandoval ($0.60), Blalock, ($0.10)
SP - Greinke ($1.60), Price, ($0.70), Hamels ($2.60), J. Santana ($2.70), Peavy ($2.00)
RP - Ryan ($0.70), Wood ($0.80), Chris Perez ($0.10), Madson ($0.10)

Bench - Pelfrey ($0.10) ;-D, Slowey ($0.70)

After fidning owners with needs, here's some trade scenerio's involving players they are interested in from my team:

1. I trade Peavy (2.00) and Kendrick (0.80) to The Evil Empire for Utley (1.90) - $28.00 to $27.10 (0.90 saved) Doubt he'll trade, but he's in dire need of pitching. (He's got Phillips to replace Utley at second should he trade)

2. I trade Markakis (2.60) and Pelfrey (0.10) to The M&M Boys for Votto (1.80) - $27.10 to $26.30 (0.80 saved) NOTE: Pelfrey is on my bench and doesn't count toward my budget. He likes this trade, but I'm trying to push Slowey on him so I can keep Pelfrey for a dime since I'd be moving a pitcher.

3a. I trade Ellsbury (1.70) to Red Sox for Nate McLouth (1.40) - $26.30 to $26.00 (0.30 saved) Initially, He said McLouth is off the block, but with him being in need of SB's, I threw Ellsbury out and he's interested in the offer and said he'd have to think about it.

3b. I trade Ellsbury (1.70) to The Bench Warmers for Aramis Ramirez (1.70) - $26.30 to $26.30 PUSH. I discovered his desire to move A-Ram for SB's.

Now if these trades go through I will be at or near the $26 budget with one pitching spot to fill. I can either add LaRoche in a deal or outright drop him into the auction pool to put me at either $25.40 (trade 3a) or $25.70 (trade 3b) with an open SP and Utility spot open to bid on in the auction.

What do you all think about these trades? I think I did the math right. :-? :-B

If you are looking to upgrade the offense for pitching, option 1 is a good one. You are getting a stud for stud (although Utley won't be starting the season). Even with the loss of JP, your' pitching is still very strong and the offense recieves a good upgrade, and you save a few coins.

Option 2 doesn't look too good to me, unless you can move Fielder for further savings.

Option 3a is decent, I need to research McClouth some more, but I'm not entirely convinced last year wasn't a career one?

Option 3b is a no go for me (unless Aram is more tradeable?).

Have a look at mine (need to keep 2/3 keepers, CC, Johan, Reyes)

Tough. I would to send away Sandoval (.60), Adam LaRoche (.60), and Fielder (2.90). I don't think these guys are worth their respective prices.

Option 1 seems cool.
Option 2, not so much. It seems like Fielder is eating up a lot of cap, I would look to trade him before Markakis.
Option 3A, nah. Not big on McClouth
Option 3B, sure. Try to send him LaRoche too, like you said.

Fielder for 2.90 is a bit much, and I've had some interest in him. But Markakis on the other hand, Sizemore is a dime more, for roughly 50% more stats outside of AVE and OBP. Markais is WAY overpriced for my liking. That said, if I have trouble moving Markakis, I will have little trouble moving Prince.

Thanks for your input! ;-D

I see. That is a bit overpriced. Option 2 seems pretty swell in that light. Good luck in your cap-cutting!

I'd also have to go with option 2 here. Especially if you could move Fielder afterwards. Thanks for your help

well 1 is good if you can do that.

i wouldn't do 2.

3a/3b are both ok. don't fully solve your problem though.

I really like the first trade for you. It will actually solve almost all of your problems. Your pitching is still extremely, ridiculously deep and you will be getting Utley a stud 2B.

But it really solves your problem because it will allow you to dump Cano with a beefy price tag of $1.50.

As far as the other trades the only advice I would have is not to move Pelfrey. At a cost of only a dime piece he can be an absolute amazing bargain this year.

Try to get the first move done.
