Would you do this trade? as always, WHIR

16 team H2H points. 10 Major and 7 Minor keepers each year. (Minors are less than 100 games played, 18 starts or 30 appearances for pitchers). Vanilla scoring system other than .25 points for putouts, giving first basemen some extra value at the two DH/UTIL spots. Currently in rebuilding mode, shooting to be ready to contend in '10.

Current Keepers:

Majors:
Pujols
Loney
Upton
Upton
Kemp
Granderson
Kershaw
Jurrjens
Kazmir
Ian Stewart (would be left off the list if this deal happens)

Minors:
Scherzer
Neftali Feliz
Volstad
Rasmus
Brett Anderson
Jarrod Parker
Jeff Clement

I have been offered Billingsley for Scherzer. If the deal happens, Ian Stewart (or Jurrjens?) would be bumped from my major league keeper list, and Scherzer's spot on the minor league roster would be taken by Elvis Andrus or Jed Lowrie.

Given these circumstances, do you deal Scherzer for Billingsley, and if so, do you keep Stewart or Jurrjens? Please keep in mind that this team will probably not be able to compete for the league title until '10.

Always, WHIR.

I'd take that deal... I've got Scherzer and a deal on the table for Bills in my NL Only team this year and really like both of them.
Scherzer reminds me of a young Randy Johnson (just more handsome), but his health and workload may be a concern for years to come. Bills improvement last year & health (really like his large frame) make me think he should develop into a reliable ace in the next few years if not this year.

Hmmm Stewart and Jurrjens is a tough call for me, but I guess I'd lean towards Stewart because I really like his upside and Col is a +. Jurrjens is solid too, but not so sure about his upside - He seems steady but just not a good K/dominant type. Both good options but I'm taking the hitter here.

Help me out in my NL Only trade post here ;-)

I would do the trade. Bills would help you more towards your goal of contending in 2010. To me its a moot point regarding Jurrjens and Stewart. I think the above poster analyzed both players accurately (big + with stewart playing in Col, Jurrjens limited upside). Looking at your roster you will need a 3b and a 16 team league is deep. So if you are not targeting a 3b in the first few rounds (Arod, Wright, Longoria, Aramis....etc) then you might as well keep stewart. If you have plans on grabbing a 3b I would keep Jurrjens for pitching depth.

Anyone else have opinions. My co-owner for this team also posted the trade for analysis, but deleted it once he found out I posted it already.

idk, Scherzer is flat out nasty. The two are about equal in my book, but Billingsley is the better bet to become in perennial ace.

I would take Billingsley any day over Scherezer.

I think that you have to trade for Billingsley here. Although I don't think its a total no-brainer.
