He actually admitted to doing greenies in his own autobiography.
So why doesn't the press eat him alive for it? Why aren't they calling for a asterik, taking him out of the HOF and proclaiming Ruth is the new all time HR king

Greenies do not have the negative stigma like steroids or marijuana.
