Inherited Keeper League Help

hey guys, 12 team 8 player keeper league 8x8 categories (Ks, walks, total bases and holds, CGs, losses) as the extra cats

two questions:

1) we can only keep guys 4 years and if they are in there 4th they cost two keeper spots ie) instead of keeping 8 guys you keep 7.

ive been offered Cano and Pena for a late pick next year. id be able to keep both instead of just Markakis who would have to be dropped after this year anyways. Does this deal make sense?

2) Who should i take with the 7th overall pick based on my team assuming I take Pena and Cano

The guys available are Cabrera, Sizemore, Rollins, Teixera, Berkman, Howard, Beltran, Johan, PEavy, Halladay, Carlos Lee, Ichiro

Now if i did the deal to get Pena obv it doesnt really work to take the big name first basemen as ortiz and pena would take up my 1B and Util. What direction should i go if thats the case? I also assume Beltran will be gone by my 7th pick along with sizemore, so the only OF left really would be carlos lee and ichiro. does that mean i am better off taking johan or something?

1) No. Markakis has far more value than Pena and Cano together even if it costs you a keeper slot.
2) keeping: Abreu, Ludwick, Pena, Cano, Haren, Linecum, Santana, Ortiz and assuming Rollins, Beltran and Sizemore are gone:

1. Tex - trade Ortiz
2. Cabrera
3. Halladay - pitching is the strength of your team and you are 1 SP away from being completely dominant
4. Johan - see above
5. Lee
6. Ichiro
7. Peavy

thanks guys, any other thoughts? is halladay more valuable than santana in a league with complete games?

It looks like my best option is to keep Markakis and then use my 7th overall pick to grab either a 1B or a SP. I guess you guys agree? Is Howard not an option at that spot?
