Hey Guys, I'm trying to decide my keepers in my 14 team roto league. We keep 5 at the expense of their round value that they were drafted at last year. I'm pretty much guaranteed to keep Wright (1), Bay (8), Quentin (22), and E. Santana (21).
The debate is between Carlos Lee @ 2nd round value, Kershaw @ 23rd round value, and Alexei Ramirez @ 23rd round value. Are Kershaw or Alexei at a bargain keeper value worth keeping over Lee? If I give up Lee, I can probably redraft him with my 2nd pick anyway.
Here's my team with the players I'm considering in BOLD with their round value in brackets. Remember, we only keep 5, which is the reason it's a tough decision for me.
C - Chris Iannetta (Col - C) 1B - Carlos Guillen (Det - 1B,3B,SS) 2B - Howie Kendrick (LAA - 2B) 3B - David Wright (NYM - 3B) (1) SS - Derek Jeter (NYY - SS) IF - Alexei Ramirez (CWS - 2B,SS,CF) (23) LF - Jason Bay (Bos - LF) (8) CF - Denard Span (Min - CF,RF) RF - Carlos Quentin (CWS - LF,RF) (22) Util - Gary Sheffield (Det - LF,RF) BN - Andre Ethier (LAD - LF,RF) DL - Carlos Lee (Hou - LF) (2) DL DL - Victor Martinez (Cle - C,1B) DL
Pitchers SP - Ervin Santana (LAA - SP) (21) SP - John Maine (NYM - SP) SP - Jered Weaver (LAA - SP) RP - Jose Valverde (Hou - RP) RP - Francisco Cordero (Cin - RP) RP - Mike Gonzalez (Atl - RP) P - Jensen Lewis (Cle - RP) P - Luis Ayala (NYM - RP) BN - Clayton Kershaw (LAD - SP)(23) BN - Chris Perez (StL - RP) BN - Josh Johnson (Fla - SP) BN - Todd Wellemeyer (StL - SP,RP)
I agree, let Lee go. You may find better value when the pick comes up and decide not to take lee. Worst case scenario you got a solid hitter waiting there.
Your reasoning is sound. Let Lee go because you can probably just redraft him if need be. Keep Alexei Ramirez because a 23rd round value, you are getting a top 75 talent who can play 2nd or SS......this is invaluable. I would take Alexei Ramirez over Kershaw at this point because: 1) Offense over defense early 2) Ramirez is a top 75 player whereas Kershaw is a risky bet to break the top 100 this year.
