AL only keeper league, 10 teams, 23 man rosters, no bench, CI and MI spots, 7 keepers per year on 3 year contracts, 5x5 roto league.
My Tentative Keepers for this year with years left on their contracts in parentheses:
MCab(1)
Thome(1)
Pena(1)
Wells(2)
Shields(1)
Morrow(2)
G. Floyd(2)
Now, I have Konerko too but I can't keep him since Thome will DH, Pena at CI and MCab at first base. But, if I trade MCab I can get some extra draft picks and be able to keep Konerko. Now I have two offers on the table:
1. MCab for his 3rd round pick
2. MCab, 11th round and 13th round picks for his Markakis(1), J. Lopez(2), 6th round and 9th round picks
The best FA's available are the following:
Matt Holliday
Curtis Granderson
Carl Crawford
Ian Kinsler
ARod
C. Guillen
Kendrick
Blalock
OCab
Ortiz
Abreu
D. Young
Matsui
Bay
Dye
Magglio
Hunter
Burnett
CC
Wang
Bedard
Weaver
Papelbon
Verlander
Jacobs
Burrell
That's 26 quality players even before the keepers are announced. Therefore, if I got that third round pick I could get potentially 4 of these players as I already have the 3rd pick in each round so I would have 1(3), 2(3), 3(3), and 3(5). Or if I did the other deal I could throw out Floyd from my keepers and get an extra 6th and 9th round pick....not sure who would be left at those points though.
So, should I consider either of these deals or just keep MCab?
