Its finally here...

Postby Captain Furtah » Thu Feb 05, 2009 7:20 pm

Your chance to help me this year, if you would like to. So, I'm in a keeper league, we get to keep up to $110 worth of players (no max on number of players). Total budget is $260. Standard 5x5 Yahoo scoring with standard positions; I have my thoughts, but I would like some feedback first. I hope the formatting is ok. Thanks, post yours and I'll help with any questions I can....

I don't really see that many players with great value on your squad, so I would rather have the more-expensive superstars (Sizemore/MCab). Davis is the best value at $15, and a very acceptable substitute for the more expensive Ryan Howard. Granderson does a little bit of everything, and $22 is not too bad for him. That leaves only $9, which is a shame. Fuentes would be a solid option at $12, and so would a Gordon/Maybin combo. And Wood has some potential for just $1. But as it is, I would keep Alex Gordon for the last spot and hope he realizes his potential.

CF Grady Sizemore (Cle - CF) 33
3B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B,3B) 31
IF Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B) 15
OF Curtis Granderson (Det - CF) 22
DL Alex Gordon (KC - 1B,3B) 8

Total = $109

I agree with the above...but I would rather have maybin. Hes still quite young and very raw. If you have space, wait for him to bust out either this year or next year.

Grady Sizemore 33
Miguel Cabrera 31
Chris Davis 15
Curtis Granderson 22
Nelson Cruz 6
and you can add Iannetta for 3 if you want to keep a catcher

those 6 could return you $150 in value in '09

Option 1:
CF Grady Sizemore (Cle - CF)  33
3B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B,3B)  31
IF Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B) 15
DL Carlos Lee (Hou - LF)  25
RF Nelson Cruz (Tex - LF,RF) 6
Total: 110

Option 2:

CF Grady Sizemore (Cle - CF) 33
3B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B,3B) 31
IF Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B) 15
DL Carlos Lee (Hou - LF) 25
LF Cameron Maybin (Fla - LF,CF)  4
SS Brandon Wood (LAA - 3B,SS)  1
Total: 109

Option 3:
CF Grady Sizemore (Cle - CF) 33
3B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B,3B) 31
1B Ryan Howard (Phi - 1B) 31
IF Chris Davis (Tex - 1B,3B) 15
Total: 110

The above 3 options all have equal appeal to me. I would probably go with option 2 because I like having the two high reward players in Maybin/Wood locked up so cheaply. Option 3 are the 3 big bats with Davis. Option 1 is like option 2.....it gives you that high reward/risk type player on a cheap salary. I wouldn't have a problem sending Howard back into the pool because I think you could get him for 31 or less again if need be.

Return the favor:

ok so I traded manny parra (3) for Brandon Phillips (21) so he is now in the mix...

Right now I am looking at

Sizemore 33
Cabrera 31
Davis 15
Maybin 4
...as the sure bets

so I have $27 dollars to choose from these options;

C Lee 25 (I love Lee as a hitter, but I do Not love his lineup this year or price)
Granderson 22 (like his potential as 5 cat guy, but already have sizemore and Maybin and we play with LF,CF and RF spots)
Phillips 21 (ditto with the 4/5 categories for a pretty week position
D Young 10 (Probably won't keep him, but I've spent years waiting for him :(
Gordon 8 (again, I like 5 cat potential, but already have 1B and 3B covered)
Cruz 6 (could be a huge bargain at $6, but not 100% sold)
Weeks 6 (how many other 2B are garaunteed 15/15 with potential for 25/25? not many)
Iannetta 3 (will he start the majority of games for Col?)
Clement 2 (will he get enough ABs and how much will he hurt my avg.)
Wood 1 (I'm not worried about working him in, but if I have an extra $1, I'll keep him)

Appreciate the help from earlier, but its getting time to submit my keepers...I will help you if needed as well...Thanks

if I could get Hughes for $2 would you switch out Cruz 6 for Hughes 2, Wood 1 and Iannetta 3?

I hate spending any money on a catcher, but I don't see Ianetta going for anything close to $3 in the draft. Am I crazy?

I like Cruz and Phillips as your last two with that list. They seem like perfect fits...
