Which 8 to keep?

Postby suckerpuncher » Thu Feb 05, 2009 1:28 pm

In one of my leagues it's time to select keepers. Maybe some of you can give me some insights on who to keep. I have my personal favorites but it's always good to get someone elses perspectives, too.

We can keep 8 guys regardless of position.

Roster: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, CI, MI, 4x OF, 2x Util - 2x SP, 2x RP, 2x P, 7x BN
Scoring: R, HR, RBI, SB, TB, AVG - W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

Batters:
Ramón Hernández (Cin - C)
Adam Dunn (Ari - 1B,OF)
Prince Fielder (Mil - 1B)
Willie Harris (Was - 2B,3B,OF)
Aramis Ramírez (ChC - 3B)
Jimmy Rollins (Phi - SS)
Miguel Tejada (Hou - SS)
Alfonso Soriano (ChC - OF)
Shin-Soo Choo (Cle - OF)
Jeff Francoeur (Atl - OF)
Jeremy Hermida (Fla - OF)
Matt Kemp (LAD - OF)
Joey Votto (Cin - 1B,OF)
Vernon Wells (Tor - OF)
Chris Young (Ari - OF)

Pitchers:
Chris Carpenter (StL - SP)
John Danks (CWS - SP)
Aaron Harang (Cin - SP)
Gio González (Oak - SP)
Braden Looper (StL - SP)
Pedro Martínez (NYM - SP)
Edinson Vólquez (Cin - SP)
Adam Wainwright (StL - SP)
Jered Weaver (LAA - SP)
Brian Fuentes (LAA - RP)
John Grabow (Pit - RP)
Bobby Jenks (CWS - RP)
Salomón Torres (Mil - RP)

Who would be your 8 keepers?

Thanks in advance.

Value wise your hitters are the best options here. The one downside here is position availability and the fact you cant field all the players, one bench. This will field your 1B, SS, 3B, OF,OF,OF and UTIL spots with one bench player. If I had to throw back one position player back I guess it would be Dunn and keep Volquez. I do not like this but his avg is a killer and the fact your power is already very good its more palatable. Volquez due to his potential and the K's.

you just can't keep dunn and cb young and i like young quite a bit, so i went with him. wells is the only other guy i see an argument for. i just think wainwright has more upside. i don't trust wells.
