Just drafted...a little help please.

This is my second year playing in a 14 team yahoo H2H league. Our stat catagorires are R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, E, AVG, OBP, IP, W, CG, SHO, SV, H, K, ERA.

I was thinking that I should pick up another catcher since thats the only position I'm lacking depth in. The top 5 catchers available (according to Yahoo rankings) are G. Myers, M. LeCroy, J. Phillips, J. LaRue, and E. Perez. I was thinking going with either LeCroy or Phillips, but wasn't quite sure. Plus I wasn't really sure who I should drop to make room. Any advice on that situation as well as on my team in general will be greatly appreciated.

Here's what I would do if this was my team...

Drop Brett Myers for another closer like Wickman.

Drop Marlon Andersen and get Adam Kennedy. This might be controversial since not many agree wit me that Kennedy is valuable. I did the excel work and he's a lot better than most realize.

Drop Steve Finley and get another OF such as... Raul Mondesi. Finley is a second half player. Mondesi is, I'm told, a strong starter and weak finisher. Might as well have Mondesi 1st half and Finley 2nd half.

I'd be wary of Encarnacion, no idea how he's gonna do in la la land.

Other than that I think you're in good shape.

Oh yeah, I realize you're relying on Podsednik for steals. Watch out if last year was a fluke for him. He supposedly was never that good in the minors and surprised everybody last year.[/quote]

Thanks for the advice. Kennedy is not available, but I think I'd be fine dropping Anderson for a Catcher as Reyes should get 2B soon enough. No go on Mondesi...the top 5 OF guys left are D. Ersted, M. Byrd, D. Relaford, M. Tucker, and R. Johnson. I imagine I'm better off sticking with finley.

Anyone else have comments/advice?

Regarding your Catcher concern:
I'd pickup Matt LeCroy. He's suppose to DH this year for the Twins but he does have Catcher eligiblity. He has potential to be a 30 HR, 100 RBI threat as long as he's given the playing time (which he should be able to). Plus, LeCroy can fill in at UTIL whenever Podsednick gets a day off and/or bombs on you because I believe he is a fluke.

Yeah, definitely drop Marlon Anderson. Reyes will have 2B eligiblity soon and Michael young is damn good at 2B as well. You may want to consider trading one of them if you feel you are lacking in another position.

Is Myers so bad he's not worth the roster spot?
Do I need 4 closers?
I was thinking I was in good shape with 6 starters and 3 closers, but I'm still learning. Of course it never hurts to have a backup for percival!
