It's been almost a year and a half since I've posted last, but it's great to be back. We're quickly approaching another season, and of course that means fantasy. My league is currently gearing up, and I'm trying to decide amongst several fine candidates for the final keeper slot in my keep-4 keeper league. Current definite keeper guys and scoring system is as follows:
12-team, H2H, 6x6 league (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG., OPS. for hitters, and W, SV, K, Holds, ERA, WHIP for pitchers).
Keeper league, we keep 4:
C - 1B - Ryan Howard 2B - Chase Utley 3B - Ryan Braun SS - OF - OF - OF - Util -
(I do not yet have any pitchers.)
I have a lot of choices, such as:
Jason Bay Jake Peavy Nate McLouth Jayson Werth Hunter Pence Franciso Liriano (I know he's not the best choice, just throwing him on there)
What do you think, Cafe? I also have the option of not keeping a 4th guy and taking a supplemental pick at the beginning of the draft. I can help in return if you post a link.

Bay is the best (and safest option) with Peavy a close second.
But you really need to take the personallity of your league into account.
If you are in a league that tends to over-value pitching (for exemple if you know at least 9 or 10 teams are going to keep a SP) it would actually make sense to keep Peavy since A) it will be impossible to get a pitcher anywhere close to Peavy's level in the draft, and B) you know there will be a lot of good hitters available in the draft.
However, if you are in league where only a few pitchers are going to be kept (like Lincicum, Santana, CC and maybe Webb), then Bay becomes a no-brainer because it will be a lot easier to find a pitcher in the draft.
Bay for sure. I'm not a Peavy fan this year, it's impossible to know if it will happen again, but I'm afraid of a repeat of the season he had after the first WBC. Also he'll either be pitching in SD who has a ridiculously bad offense, or he'll be in Chicago, in more of a hitters park in a tougher hitting division. I'd rather just take the solid bat in Bay then deal with all that.
In regards to the supplemental draft, you'd essentially get pick #47. Well what level of player has an ADP around 47? With that said, I'd pick up Bay. Stay away from Peavy, he's got too much name recognition for where he's being drafted.
