Based off these stat categories, here is how each performed (3 year avg, 2008, 2009Proj):
Berkman: 302, 322, 291
Lackey: 273, 216, 318
Ellsbury: 121, 188, 199
While i'd lose a beast of an offensive player in Berkman, i'd be getting back one heck of a SP who would make my SP much deeper. I'd also be getting much needed OF help (I also have Denard Span, Nelson Cruz and Francouer, but don't plan on keeping them), who'll be the leadoff guy on a deadly Red Sox team. Also, Berkman is the eldest of the group (will be 33 this month) as opposed to the 30 year old Lackey and 25YO Ellsbury.
However, i don't really know if I'm sold on Ellsbury; sure he steals bases and may score some runs, but doesn't seem to do much else. I know Lackey missed time last year due to injury, but when he returned, he pitched well. Also, Berkman has an great first half, then cooled down significantly in the 2nd half.
What are your opinions on the trade? Should i accept?
