In a league where pitchers are based as major of where the points come from..so all seem to go in the first couple of rounds..Have Shilling allready..Who would you team with him..Mussina, Vazquez, Mulder..Schmidt is still there, but elbow kinda worries me..One more guy on the slow draft then me...so at least 3 of these will be there..The guy in front of me has Hudson allready..Might go for a hitter...but who knows..
Those are the top 4 on the table..Next are the R. Ortiz..Nomo...Colon type..
Thanks..
Who would you go for?

id take mussina over vaz. mulder is going to be very good this year, but that lineup will limit his wins. mussina gives you solid-good numbers accross the board and is a lock for 17-19 wins. vazquez could be amazing, but mussina is a sure thing
welcome home andy

i like vazquez's upside in the yankees system. even if he doesnt have a sub-4 ERA he still is a veritable lock for 15 wins, good % for 20
edit: and better K numbers than mussina. for what it's worth, vazquez has a tendency to get hot in the 2nd half and be one of the top 3 pitchers in baseball during that stretch. at least he did that in 01 and 03.
that combined with the yankees run support will elevate him to the top of his game, which i think has top-5 pitcher upside if he can hack it.
so i'd go for vazquez's potential upside in this one.

I'd still take Schmidt - he's had elbow booboos all his career so he knows what he's doing.. he says he's ready and he's throwing fine now..

Schmidt simply hitters last year

of all of those, i like schmidt the best. i don't think u should be worried by his elbow injuries -- he will still be strong. after that, i like vazquez or mulder.

I'd take Vazquez, Mussina a very close second.
Don't mess with Schmidt. Even if healthy, he's not likely to have a 2.34 ERA again. In the early rounds, I'd be happy to sacrifice a few extra points for security and peace of mind.
