Bruce for Howard in Auction Keeper League?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:41 pm

I have been offered an interesting trade. It is an auction league with 260 dollars being the cap for each team. It is an NL only league, 23 man rosters, 12 teams, 5x5 roto style. 8 keepers per year.

Trade: I give Jay Bruce-$5 and get Ryan Howard-$44

It is tempting but I am thinking Bruce at 5 dollars is way too great of a value to make this deal. What do you think?

Other keeper possibilities:

Soriano-$39
Haren-$38
Fielder-$25
Rollins-$35
Atkins-$39
Werth-$8
F.Cordero-$19
Dempster-$1
Maholm-$1
F. Sanchez-$17
J. Sanchez-$2

It is kind of tempting.

Might it get vetoed?

i pass on this, howard's price is probably right around where it should be while bruce is worth quite a bit more than $5. the difference in prices is just too much to make this trade.

Pass. Bruce is better value at those prices.
He once hit a ball between my legs so hard that my center-fielder caught it on the fly backing up against the wall.

If Satch (Paige) and I were pitching on the same team, we would clinch the pennant by July fourth and go fishing until World Series time.

I'd rather have Bruce for the much lower price. If he comes through with the 30 HR promise over a full slate of AB, he offers even better value.

Bruce at $5 has a chance to return $30, Howard might return $32 - I don't see the trade :-t

I think Bruce at 5 is a steal. Plus you can get a very good player for the difference of 39.

so your telling me Prince is $25 and howard is $44???!?! howard is better but thats near double and howard is not doubly as good as The Prince of Wales.. you gotta pick up prince and keep bruce.. that means at 1B you are losing about 7-10 HR, but gaining quite a bit in avg.. RBI's are kind of an issue.. but then again you've got Bruce and Prince for $30.. so you've still got another $14 left over that would have been spent on Howard..
