What are your thoughts on Jeremy Hermida?

Postby JErik20 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 2:04 pm

I am in a salary cap league, and signed Hermida as a free agent at the end of last season, so I have the option of signing him to a contract at the set free agent cost (starts at $10 in a $300-cap league). I see him being a HUGE sleeper this year, and just wondered if others thought the same....

Thanks in advance

How many other teams in your league? How many players kept per team, stats, h2h, roto? All this info is important

no keeper limit ($120-200 keeper cap, I am around $120, so i have plenty of room for mistakes), 12-team 6x6 roto (extra stats are OBP and Holds)

I may not keep him at $10, i may release him to the draft and get him there for a few bucks cheaper, but i'd stil like your opinion of him....

thanks

I'm looking for him to finally put it all together this year. I'd throw him back at $10 though. Like you said, he should be had for less in auction.
He once hit a ball between my legs so hard that my center-fielder caught it on the fly backing up against the wall.

If Satch (Paige) and I were pitching on the same team, we would clinch the pennant by July fourth and go fishing until World Series time.

Hermida could be had for at least half of what you're going to keep him for. If Hermida can stay away from the injury bug, he can be relatively productive.

I think he's worth the $10, but he won't return much more than the $10, no huge breakout here.

It feels like I've been saying this since about 1985.

Yet, I'll be targeting him late again. The $10 is probably not a bargain, though.
Be excellent to each other.

Correct you are sir, bargains mean they'll return more than they cost, and he won't return more than he costs at $10, so he's no bargain.

I'm tired of Hermida. I'm staying away this year. $10 seems expensive for him.

Still young enough for potential, still showing some life in various statistics that hint at 20+/10+ possibilities. However, don't soak up too much hype if you've got cheaper alternatives and/or can invest in more of a sure thing. At least it looks like Hermida is the full time starter, but I agree with others in that you should be wary in overspending on mere possibilities.
