12 Team H2H league. 6 by 6 with OBA and Innings Pitched Normal rosters w/ 5 starting OFers and 5 SP and 4 RP This year is our first year we are sacrificing the Draft Pick where we drafted our keepers. I'm having a difficult time with deciding. Usually just keep the 6 best, but this new rule is making me nuts in deciding my keepers. Your input would be awesome, and I will surely offer my 2 cents on anything you post. I won it all last year and I want to repeat Here are the guys and Picks I would lose.
Top 4 I'm leaning towards Jose Reyes Rd 1 Dustin Pedroia Rd 14 Roy Halladay Rd 8 Carlos Lee Rd 4
Then I have these guys Jay Bruce Rd 23 Corey Hart Rd 6 Ryan Ludwick Rd 25 Shane Victorino Rd 9 David Ortiz Rd 2 (not sure of a rebound) AJ Burnett Rd 13 Ryan Dempster Rd 25 Ryan Zimmerman Rd 9 Alex Gordon Rd 11 Yovanni Gallardo Rd 7 (hurt me last year, really like his stuff) Clayton Kershaw Rd 26
I'm just having a tough time with deciding and your thoughts are appreciated.
I play in a league with the same keeper system. You have to go with value in this type of system. Jay Bruce is going to get drafted way earlier than Rnd 23 (probably in Rnd 10-12) which too me is great value. He also has potential to hit 30+ HR. You have to go w/ Bruce. Kershaw is also a real good value in Rnd 26.
I really like Gallardo's stuff as well but in Rnd 7 you are not getting much value. Guys like Becket and Lackey are going in Mock drafts at 6,7.
This is my first time in a keeper system like this. I appreciate the advice on value. I'm so used to having no picks sacrificed. Its a completely different way of thinking..

I would go Reyes, Pedroia, Halladay, Bruce, Ludwick, Kershaw. I think this is a blend of talent and value. I like Carlos Lee a lot, but think there is a chance you may be able to re-draft him if you want him. I just can't pass up the value to be had with both Bruce and Ludwick. This leaves you all of your top 5 picks outside of round 1 (which I'd imagine most everyone will be keeping their 1st round selections).
I would greatly appreciate some help with mine if you get a second. Thanks in advance.
I like the 4 you picked. Halladay is going in the 4/5th round in mocks so far, hence he is a good value for an 8th. I thnk Bruce is a must for a 23rd. He may not be in the top 6 players you have, but that value can't be passed up. The last pick I would go with Ludwick. Good value and he has at least produced at the major league level, where Kershaw could be great but you already have one pitcher in Halladay and I prefer to not take chances with pitchers as keepers.
I'd go with the 4 you're thinking of and Bruce/Ludwick. They give you the best value/production mix. Kershaw would be tough to give up, but should be easier to re-draft, especially since you'll have some early picks by not keeping 2nd/3rd/5th rounders.
