Papelbon trade

Postby bigoz89 » Fri Jan 30, 2009 3:21 pm

I am and expansion team in a dynasty league and have been offered the following trade.

I give Papelbon

I get Brian Wilson and Shane Victorino

My outfielders look like this: (we start 6)
Nate Mclouth
Chris Young
Andre Eithier
Raul Ibanez
Conor Jackson
Hideki Matsui
Marcus Thames
Jose Guillen

I know, not so great. Victorino would instantly become my biggest SB contributor, but is it worth trading Papelbon? Thanks, and leave a link if you want me to try respond to your post.

Even though I'm a big Shane Victorino fan, I agree that Papelbon is more valuable. The thing about Brian Wilson is that he's good enough to get you some saves, but you can't really depend on him to get you 40 saves in 09. If we knew that Brian Wilson was going to close for the whole year and get 40 saves again, then I'd make this trade and take the hit on the ERA and WHIP. Wilson's K numbers are decent, so it wouldn't be a huge drop off from Papelbon's.

I'd reject the offer and ask for more. }:-)

How many teams in the league?

Either way, just a bad deal. Get a 1-for-1 and get a real solid contributor.

Papelbon is at the top of his game and relatively young.

So . . . don't do it.

;-D Horrible trade. He is worth a heck of a lot more than that.

I wouldnt say it's a bad deal wilson is a solid closer and Victorino is a solid all around player but I would ask for more then this.

You have enough solid OF as it is. No way.

I'd cut Marcus Thames.

Hold Paps. But for interest, what else does he have?

I could use your input too!
