Need some insight on Seattle prospects please.

Postby soxfan25 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:40 pm

I recently joined a dynasty league and am a Sox fan. So I really don't have a clue when it comes to Seattle prospects. We chose (or got stuck) a team and kept everyone with 6 years or less service time. I traded away the top 2 prospects Triunfel & Aumont for Gavin Floyd & Jose Martinez. The only info I could find was Sickels team top 20 lists, Baseball America team top 10, and Keith Laws top 100 overall. Thanks for any help in advance.

So what is the overall question? When it comes to Seattle you have two young OF's named Halman and Saunders. Halman is a guy you can see on the Netherlands WBC roster, he is a young masher who K's alot. I believe he had the most K's in the Arizona fall league. Saunders may be on Canada's WBC roster? He is a very young 5 tool OF who was one of the youngest players in AAA laster year. On the pitching side Ramirez is pretty solid, they still have yet to sign 1st rounder Josh Fields. The system is really weak but with the new GM from the Brewers coming over they should start restructuring the minors system to something very close of a blueprint to the Brewers. Lates ;-D

Really you like the seattle package over a solid Floyd, Martinez is coming off a long rehab but if he proves to be worthy with his age and size he could be a monster.

Johnson may start at C someday if Clement moves to DH or 1B, Peguero is decent, varagas came over in the Putz deal and is a #4 rotation guy....maybe? You should have Dennis Rabaen from Miami who projects as a power hitting OF....he is 08 draft class.

Yes, I think you've probably seen Floyd's best year....and I do realize he is still fairly young but his BABIP was .268 and his FIP was 4.77 so he'll come back to earth a bit. Aumont still has ace potential or projectability so I'll take that. And I like Triunfel more than Martinez so I'm good there too.
