Flights...

Postby RynMan » Sat Jan 24, 2009 8:00 pm

So I'm needing to fly from LA to NYC in July 09, and I'm wondering when the best time to book these flights will be. What's the best way in the states to look for cheap flights? I heard on priceline.com you actually just say what price you want to pay and if an airline agrees they just bill you.....anyone used it?

You're not a student are you? Studentuniverse.com has the best prices, all you need is a .edu email I think.

Never used Priceline, but I know it used to be that sometimes you could get really great deals on flights the airlines were trying to fill. I don't think you'll find that now. The airlines have cut a number of flights and it's rare you see a flight that isn't completely full. Especially between two large cities.

So, you're better off buying well in advance. Prices will be better, and you'll have a better selection. There are many travel sites, I've never found much difference between them really. I tend toward travelocity or kayak.com
