I have to drop 5 players...............WHIR

Postby AussieDodger » Wed Jan 21, 2009 11:07 am

In a 20 team H2H with holds and OPS, we keep 22 and I need to drop 5.

Travis Buck (Oak - LF,RF)
Billy Butler (KC - 1B,LF)
Orlando Cabrera (CWS - SS)
Alexi Casilla (Min - 2B)
Shin-Soo Choo (Cle - LF,RF)
Jack Cust (Oak - LF,RF)
J.D. Drew (Bos - RF) 22%
Matt Kemp (LAD - CF,RF)
Fred Lewis (SF - LF,CF,RF)
Jed Lowrie (Bos - 3B,SS)
Mike Napoli (LAA - C) 20%
Joey Votto (Cin - 1B,LF)
Rickie Weeks (Mil - 2B)
Randy Winn (SF - LF,CF,RF)

Jose Arredondo (LAA - RP)
Heath Bell (SD - RP)
Clay Buchholz (Bos - SP)
Mark Buehrle (CWS - SP)
Yovani Gallardo (Mil - SP)
Jensen Lewis (Cle - RP)
Scott Lewis (Cle - SP) 3%
Pedro Martínez (NYM - SP)
Anthony Reyes (Cle - SP,RP)
Andy Sonnanstine (TB - SP)
Joakim Soria (KC - RP) 85%
Billy Wagner (NYM - RP)
Dan Wheeler (TB - RP)

Billy Wagner is the obvious #1 because he's not playing this year.
Travis Buck, Jensen Lewis, Alexi Casilla, Scott Lewis and Anthony Reyes are all also on the block.

Thanks in advance. ;-D

I think you have it narrowed down to the right 6 candidates. To me, you either keep Reyes or Casilla, depending on whether you want to keep a hitter or pitcher. I'd probably lean more towards Reyes because Casilla, IMO, will never be able to consistently keep an OPS above .700.

Also, Casilla only got 9 SB opportunities from 380-odd at bats, so unless he gets a definite, legit green light he's not worth a lot. ;-D

I agree with your assessment, dropping:
Wagner, Lewii, Buck and Casilla. Would keep Reyes cause if he's healthy he's got upside and Cleveland should put runs on the board.

those 6 are definitely the candidates, i think reyes has the most upside of that group should he find his way into the rotation.

I would probably hold onto Reyes too, and I have pretty much given up on him. Realistically it probably won't matter who you end up keeping from that group of 6.
