League adding minors draft, please help

First time I've been in a league with a minor roster is right now, my commish added a minor draft to commence sometime early March.

Here's the rub: To be eligible, the player must not have played in a MLB game before 9/1/08.

League is on ESPN and if the player is in their database I can just view their playercard for that, but where might one find this if the player is not on ESPN? It seems like we will just pick and if the player doesn't conform they will not be added so I'd hate to lose out.

If someone is ineligible you could just post who they are to help ABA316 out. I have been known to make a mistake now and again....and I may have missed one or two like you say.

Michael Bowden and Dexter Fowler aren't eligible.

Basically, the rule is "have they played in the majors at all". If any of these had played after Sept 1, they would have at bats or innings pitched. If they had played prior to Sept 1, they likekly would have also played after sept 1.

So just look for guys who have never played in the majors and you'll be fine. I can't think of any player who played prior to Sept 1 but wasn't called up when the rosters expanded.

Just trying to research and make this go a little more smoothly and I feel like I'm being stymied at every turn.

Why would I believe this to be true? Because it is true - they played before 9/1/08. If they only played 9/1/08 or after they are eligible.

And so i dont have to repeat myself to other interested parties: My response to Cardinal's PM:

I'm in another league with same type of rules (we have to draft and start a "rookie" each week) and we all do our own research for qualifiers and in that league commish tells us after we pick not eligible. How could he (or I for my league) possibly tell us before?

Am I supposed to list everyone who did not play before 9/1/08 across the entire minor league level, and foreign players? and what order should I list these hundreds and hundreds of players? In order by my opinion of talent? Alphabetically? What if I forget to list some 19 year old wunderkid in Venezuela and some owner wants to cry foul about that?

Its not hard to find prospect lists out there, then if you like a guy go look up his stats to see when he played.

Did he have MLB stats in 07? Well then he's not eligible..Did he have MLB stats in 08? Well research when exactly he played. if he played in a game on August 30th he's not eligible. No commissoner I know does the research for me as in if I want to know if a guy qualifies @ 2B for example I have to go look how many games he played there.

I know youre very concerned but dont worry, if people have too much trouble with researching this information the league wont have the feature this eyar or any other year.

And any league memmber is free to research or ask for help wherever they like and if someone here helps him thats fine thats what the Cafe is for, or in this case to also find a shoulder to cry on because someone has to work/research. Thanks for voicing your opinion in a PM though, the is noted.
