Reyes, Sizemore, Utley (Slam dunks and take care of IF, OF)
Beckett, Ryan (Slam dunks given that you must keep an SP and a RP)
Scherzer rookie
That puts the count at 5 plus your rookie
the last two spots came down to Vlad, Upton and Nolasco for me.
Utlimately I decided on Upton and Nolasco. I love Vlad, and in a H2H would keep him over Nolasco without question. However, given that it's a roto, and the number of pitchers that are mandatory keepers (as well as the fact others will be kept beyond the necessary 1 SP and 1 RP per team), I think you must keep Nolasco. I definitely like Nolasco considerably more then Cliff Lee since I think his k-potential is greater, and Cliff Lee has more miserable major league seasons under his belt than Nolasco (maybe that will prove to be only because Nolasco hasn't been in the league as long... point being Lee's floor is quite low... like AAA low).
So that left Upton and Vlad for me. Vlad should be better this year, but he's on the decline, while Upton is on the upswing. Vlad's power is dropping, and though is batting average will be better (meaning more hits since you don't use BA) and runs and rbi's too I think it's likely Upton hits more HR's, has a higher OPS and could possibly hit enough extra base hits to make up TB on Vlad. Therefore Vlad in R's, H's, RBI's vs Upton in HR's, TB, OPS which means go the younger route.
Good luck, hope that was of some assistance. If you wouldn't mind, I'd like some help with a question of mine if you have a second.
