can someone explain the legal stance of a criminal breaking a law or breaking and entering your property and still having rights afterward? is it simply that just because someone breaks a crime, they dont lose their legal and civic rights? because if someone broke into my house and injured themselves and then tried to sue me, i really dont know what i would do.

Yeah, this really doesn't make sense to me either. Don't you have the right to shoot someone that breaks into your house? So maybe instead of calling the police on the person and risk being sued afterward....just go ahead and shoot them instead!
