2nd place team from last year - Where can I improve? - WHIR

Postby runxc3200 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 1:24 pm

Hey All - Just want to get some ideas on where I need to improve. 10 team Dynasty - 6x6 (OBP and Holds)

Finished 2nd last year - Thinking I could upgrade with starting pitching. In regards to the farm system, I wouldn't mind moving a prospect or two because I have a lot of young outfields and I wouldn't mind upgrade at other positions. Any input would be great. As always, WHIR.

You are spot on that you need to upgrade at SP. I would try to package Maybin and Matsui for a top starter. I would also be happy with keeping Maybin and offering a more proven OF like Hart or Ethier who may garner more in return than a propsect. Billingsly is a good #3, and should improve again next season, and Burnett is a good #4 and should rack up some wins with the Yanks. I would seek out a Roy Oswalt, Edinson Volquez, Brandon Webb, or Roy Halladay to plug in with Hamels.

You can certainly package someone from your bench (a bat and an arm) to obtain a top-notch No. 2 or low end No. 1 pitcher. Be sure to seek out the lower finishers last year, they would be looking at obtaining prospects to build their team and would probably more willing to part with what you need.
