I think, overall, the text on almost every single sig in the contest was sub-par, mine included. I think G would have been the clear cut winner had they nailed the text, and C could have gotten a lot more votes had the text been better, as well.
I really liked D, probably 2nd after G, and think it could have won with a little more done with the text, as well.
Good stuff, everybody. We've got some real talented folks here.
no mention of F?
Well, I actually liked the text on F. It was simple and fitting for the rest of the sig, unlike the rest. I really love the main focal render, but I would have changed the BG, especially the face on the right side. I really liked it, though.
Congrats to all contestants. There is some good artwork here for sure.
I have been dorment for a long time here but I just happened to be bored at work today and decided to see what the artwork is looking like here at the cafe. Over time its definitely gotten better across the board.
I do have to make a comment though in that I disappointed that I, F and H didn't receive more love. I mean when I first looked over the sigs entered into the contest I thought they were all very nice and a good bit more visually appealing/difficult to create then others (Please don't take offense if one of these 3 are not yours). This is just my opinion - for what its worth.
Had I been around for voting I would have been torn between I and H. To me, I looks to be the most difficult to create incorporating many different styles and effects. H - my favorite visually, with very good technique. The fact that H received zero votes really annoys me. F is right behind both for me and I thought should have gotten more votes.
Horts is pretty cool with a nice concept. I just feel as though all these cafe tourments wind up going to the sig that has a gimmicky shape or theme. I don't feel like digging through old contests to prove my point but I recall the winners having a comic book, or ticket shaped, or film strip effect, or popup looking feel.
This isn't a post to flame Hort or soty - its actually to give more credit to WS, Snakes and Smoove. Good job men.

I've been around long enough to know what wins these things. My design was no accident.
BTW, the comic book one was me, too... Then I made the Polaroid one... And wound up losing on what I felt was my best sig, because my opponent made a Pat Tillman sig...
There is definitely a certain strategy to take if you want to win these things.
