Frank Thomas ???

Postby sarnell2 » Fri Jan 16, 2009 9:52 pm

A lot of you probably don't care (if that's the case a response is not necessary), but Frank Thomas still believes he's got 2 years left in him. The only problem - who is going to take a chance on him? If (big if) he can stay healthy, he's definitely capable of putting up 30+ homers and 100+ rbi's and worthy of a late round pick. Anyone have any ideas as to what team he'd be a good fit for (can't be an NL team, Oakland or Toronto)? I personally wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees tried signing him. They often take chances on older players, Giambi is gone, and they now have Nick Swisher (who had his best year ever when Frank Thomas was batting behind him in Oakland). Any thoughts?

The Yanks are already full up on guys like that. In fact, they are trying to trade either Swisher or Nady for a pitcher. It's definitely not them.

Unfortunately, the Big Hurt is probably done. With all his injuries he won't last for a full season or give a team production. I can see Seattle as a fit because they could use a DH/bat in general, if he does play it has to be in the AL since he no longer can play 1B. Baltimore I suppose could use him but they won't' be very competitive this year so it would be a waste to spend the money.
