Weird credit card issue that could affect you

I think I may have found out how this little scam got its start.

Just a note to AussieDodger: It was MasterCard and Visa that uncovered this problem, not the bank.

yeah i actually got a letter from RBS WorldPay a few weeks back saying my information may or may not have been compromised...i'm just going to assume it wasnt and hope for the best

I got the same and just never bothered to call. I think I lost the letter. Hopefully they don't get me.

I just got sent a new Citi Visa card today saying my account number could have been obtained illegally, dunno if it has to do with this or not.

Yeah I got reissued a new Mastercard out of the blue, they really didn't say why just that it was a problem on their end and they apologized. I didn't even put 2 and 2 together till now.
