Help Us Find A New Stats Service

Postby Nineball » Mon Jan 12, 2009 10:56 am

Last year we used CBS sportsline and we weren't too thrilled. We always used tqstats, but two years ago when their site crashed it scared us off. How was tq last year? What's the best stats service out there?

One thing we did like about CBS was their up to the minute gamecast that tracked scoring changes almost to the minute.

Who do people use?

Allstar Stats is quite good. We changed a few years go, but went back.

ESPN is fine as long as you dont have a minor league roster, or any super crazy scoring categories. Plus, it is free, meaning more payout to your league's winners.

ROTOWIRE has been pretty good for us the last two years. We were also diehard TQ supporters until the debacle of two myears ago, and have been on ROTOWIRE sinc. GREAT customer service and relatively chap (about $60 total for your league)

TQStats situation caused me to doubt the viability of paying for a service of any of the minor sites. !+) I'd be fearful of using anything other than Sporting News, CBS, ESPN, or Yahoo. Whatever you have to do to make your league work with one of those four is what I would do.

We used Rotowire last year and will be using it again this year. It is easy to navigate and the only problem that we have had with it is the lack of a waiver wire. We just post those players in the message board so that everyone has a chance to see them.

What actually happened with TQ Stats is they got bought by the same parent that owns Fanball, then it got rewritten (why ruin a good thing?) and blew up. Check out www.OnRoto.com - it's from the founders of TQ Stats and it rocks. It's already my favorite and they are very responsive and adding new stuff constantly. My second choice would be RotoWire, third choice CBS. Note, however, that for a redraft league that doesn't have odd rules you can't beat Yahoo's free service. Far more reliable and faster to use than ESPN or Fox.

On.roto looks great. Does anyone else use it? How do they do with minor leaguers? And in-game scoring? CBS wasn't that great, but the thing I loved was their game tracking and up to the minute scoring.

Check out the sample league and read the 'Updates' page to see what new stuff they are working on (live standings updates is on their).
