16 team dynasty with 15 ML.
I have depth at SP and need a legit 3B ML.
I have been offered Clay for Gamel and a 2nd round pick.
Any thoughts.

I personally have serious doubts about Buchholz....I also fear he may end up in the BP. Gamel can mash, but "the butcher" probably won't stick at 3B (although he may be eligible for a couple seasons). I don't know if you can call him a legit 3b this season though.
I'd say the trade favours the team getting Gamel and the 2nd round pick.

While Gamel is a solid prospect I don't think he is ever going to be a top notch option in fantasy...solid sure, but not top notch. I think "IF" Clay can put it together and the Sox quit messing with him then he for sure has ace potential still. I think it depends on who you can get with that 2nd round pick. For me I still like Clay more than Gamel.
I agree that the main thing is what you could get with the pick about whether this is a deal you should pursue. Gamel should be a solid hitter but may not solve your 3B problem as his defense is "poor" to say the least at this point. I do like Buchholz long term as well but if the pick you are giving up has good value then I say no.

Clay all the way. He and Hughes took their lumps in 08 but both will still be solid starting pitchers. They have to compete in the AL East but on the other hand the both pitch for clubs that will always give them run support.
