Rioting has a place and time and though the situation calls for protest people need not be in the streets burning cars, breaking windows, and looting. Protest peacefully and call for the officers head, but don't become violent and destructive and escalate the situation.
Wait till this cop is found innocent then wreck shop.
I don't know if there's ever a good time to wreck the environment in which you live. You tear up your town - great! Now you've got a guy dead and a torn up town. Rioting is not the best method of conveying dissatisfaction. It's probably the most counterproductive method of doing that.

No I mostly agree, I meant to put a at the end of my last statement.
I do think in some situations minor rioting serves a purpose in getting a message across, but those situations have to be extreme....civil rights riots come to mind. Of course it'd be better if the rocks and bottles being thrown were directed at the right windows....say the police station or courthouse and not Bills Barbershop or Johns Deli. I'm not advocating violence toward others but sometimes things need to be turned up a notch, sadly most people take it too far.
Yeah I guess really "rioting" is not good, what I am advocating is aggressive protest.
If the justice system works and the guy who pulled the trigger gets punishment fitting of the crime, then accept it. In the mean time, continue to protest and voice your opinion peacefully, and if he gets off scott-free...burn that mother down. But not your own neighborhood...go to the courthouse/BART police office/city hall/etc.
Apparently, they're saying that the cop may have thought he had his tazer, not his firearm, which, as far as I'm concerned, doesn't mean squat. I have a lot of family members in law enforcement, I've talked to them and they say that you would have to be a complete and absolute moron to make a mistake like that, and that you are supposed to take measures to prevent that from happening, like keep them on different sides of the belt. And that's ignoring the fact that this probably wasn't even a situation that warranted use of a tazer anyway. Dude had been searched, he was face down and being controlled by three officers. Even "non-lethal" force shouldn't have been necessary.
