I saw Rocco play in HS and Legion ball and you could tell he was going to be a special player. But the thing that stands out the most about him is that he is a class act and you like to see people like that do well. Hopefully he can contribute somewhere and keep his health under control. I don't know if Boston is the right place due to local kids being under the microscope, but he would be a good fit as a 4th OFer if he can handle the scrutiny.

I think they see Smoltz as more of a starter with Wake possibly headed to the pen. Great depth signing either way. A rotation of Beckett-Dice-Lester-Penny/Clay-Smoltz/Wake I think matches the Rays. The Penny/Smoltz signings allows Masterson to stay in the 8th inning role which he is more suited for. I still would have preferred a pursuit of Sheets. The ideal situation for me would be for Wake and either Smoltz or Penny to head to the pen with Sheets in the rotation.
Love the Baldelli signing. He was misdiagnosed earlier and, from the reports I read, had positive (i.e. good) results at two different hospitals. Does not have the speed of a Crisp but I think he has a better overall game.

Now all they have to do is trade for Hanley
If Rocco is healthy then he is a great player and will be a great addition.
That sucks for the Rays if the news on Smoltz is true. I was really hoping they could get him to close.

I'm surprised the Rays are not in on the Hoffman sweepstakes, especially considering the Brewers involvement.
Here is a blurb from an article discussing Baldelli's condition:
The Sox, in search of a fourth outfielder, have done extensive work on Baldelli's health including a previously diagnosed mitochondrial disorder which has been rediagnosed as a less severe channelopathy disorder after visits to the Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital earlier this winter.
The channelopathy family of diseases appear to be more treatable and there's hope that Baldelli, through the right diet and medication, can play more than previously anticipated and not suffer the same extent of pre-mature muscle fatigue to his legs that nearly ended his career a year ago.

Not sure about now, but healthy Rocco has speed to burn and would be faster than Coco.
