Careful Using LD%

If you are one of those fantasy types that likes using batted ball measures to identify hitters likely to improve or regress, you might take a look at this article.

I had doubts about the ability of some of these measures, because I once looked at JCBradbury's PrOPS data and found it was of little use to predict next year's performance. Trying to identify under or over valued players using BABIP or LD% would appear to be questionable.

No suprise that LD% are not very accurate.....glad I take 'em with a grain of salt. There will be articles that come out that debunks alot of the "holy" SABR stats in some way I'm sure...

I hate it when someone makes an intelligent, well thought out observation about something that was a faint whisper in my mind; an idea I simply pushed aside.

It's really ironic that they use the LD% to try to achieve a more objective point of view about luck by using a subjective stat recorder(or whatever those people deciding what is and isn't a LD are)

to be honest, i never really looked at LD% as a statistic with much value.
