Which of the two blind free agent acquisition systems do you prefer and why? (in regards to an Auction Keeper league)
1. Standard CBS FAAB - example...
Team 1 bids $7 on Gavin Floyd
Team 2 bids $12 on Gavin Floyd
Team 2 wins Gavin Floyd for $12
Tiebreaks are determined by waiver order that is based upon the reverse order of standings.
2. Custom FAAB System - example...
Team 1 places opening bid of $1 and maximum bid of $7 on Gavin Floyd
Team 2 places opening bid of $1 and maximum bid of $12 on Gavin Floyd
Team 2 wins Gavin Floyd for $8
Tiebreaks are determined by the higher opening bid - example of tiebreak situation...
Team 1 places opening bid of $1 and maximum bid of $7 for Gavin Floyd
Team 2 places opening bid of $3 and maximum bid of $7 for Gavin Floyd
Team 2 wins Gavin Floyd for $7
System 1 is straight forward and can be automatically processed by CBS. It deviates from a true auction in the sense that the winning bid isn't +$1 more than the next highest bid. Free agents in this system generally have higher $ amounts that in system 2.
System 2 is more complex and must be processed manually by the commissioner. The system resembles a true auction and generally keeps the cost of free agents lower than system 1.
Are there better ways to handle free agent acquisition for an Auction Keeper league?

I like CBS FAAB because it is totally secret. It eliminates any chance of the Commish doing anything illegal. == I ran a league before we had the FAAB and did our bidding on the Message Board. The owner starting a bid would post a message that he wishes to bid a dollar on Joe Blow. The other owners would send one email with their bid to the owner that posted the message. The message poster would have the option of beating the high bid or not. This eliminated any illegal stuff and it also served the purpose of the winning bid only being a dollar higher than the second highest bid.
