What's the Cafe's thought on Tim Alderson v. Chris Tillman and Carlos Santana v. Taylor Teagarden? I'm working on a deal right now in my keeper league that would send either Santana or Teagarden to the team I'm trading with in exchange for Alderson or Tillman (MLB players are involved, but that's not in the scope of this forum). I'm trying to iron out which catcher to send and which pitcher to ask for in return. Who would you choose and why? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I would much rather have Carlos Santana over Teagarden. Santana should post a good average, OBP, OPS, and solid power. Teagarden is a much better defensive player but since we don't care about that in fantasy I don't see it being very close.
I prefer Alderson over Tillman despite Tillman being a bit better when it comes to pure stuff. Alderson has better control and will pitch in SF in a good park in a great division for pitchers. Tillman will be matched up agianst the likes of the Yankees, Red Sox, and Rays as soon as mid 2009. Alderson has a lower ceiling than Tillman but is more likely to reach his than I think Tillman.

Yup, Cards pretty much nailed it. Thats not to say that by the end of this year or even by middle of this year that Alderson and Tillman don't flip flop in rankings/thoughts because prospects are fickle and these two pitchers are close.
Thanks guys. I was able to keep Santana but was unable to get either Alderson or Tillman despite thinking I might be able to.
