Foreign imports for 2009

Postby Danimal » Mon Jan 05, 2009 12:53 pm

Does anyone have a list of players signed from outside the U.S.? (excluding Latin America)
I know there are several Asian players and maybe a few from Cuba.

Thanks,

kenshin kawakami - SP - yet to sign. said to be nearing a decision with baltimore, minnesota, st. louis, and atlanta still in the running

koji uehara - SP/RP - yet to sign. baltimore pursuing and views him as a starter, although some teams (rumored to include the twins) think he's a bullpen guy.

junichi tazawa - SP/RP - signed with boston. likely will start his career at AA and still to be determined if he'll be a starter or reliever.

dayan viciedo - 3B - signed with chicago white sox. likely will start at AA but big power potential for the 3B.

oh, and little geography lesson - cuba is a latin america country ;-)

You can add...

Koji Mitsui (should be a cheap MLB loogy if posted)
Yadel Marti - should be a very good MLB starter
Yasser Gomez - decent OF, maybe a reserve with speed

Marti and Gomez have yet to be cleared to play in the MLB.

Yes unless your scoring system favors Indian pitchers.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
