Just a heads up for those who you starting to get the itch for baseball info. I was pleasantly surprised to find TSN 09 guide at my local bookstore last night. In the past it has always come out in mid February.

excellent news...it is a little early for mags to start coming out because there are still some key free agents out there and many closer situations are not settled but they will get a lot of sales based on the fact that they are the only fantasy mag out there right now (except for the more expensive stuff like prospectus and forecaster). i bought the mag last year and it had some pretty useful stuff. i'll probably go pick it up because i've got that itch to read up on some of their projections. nice heads up

Compensate for this bit of unfortunate fact by concurrently picking up one's favorite gentleman's magazine to help visually wash away any worries of a slightly misinformed draft.

magazines are good for bathroom reading but any serious draft prep done with them is foolish since info is had real time online. I still pick up a couple for the aforementioned reason

Not a magazine, but the only paperback prep that can be done is with the Prospectus annual.

Pretty much really. I look through the fantasy magazines if I'm at Borders just to see if they have anything worthwhile but I never buy them. The magazines are just completely dated now when you have access to sites like the cafe, rotoworld, mdc/couch managers, and a countless number of hardcore fan blogs for specific teams to use as sources which are far more accurate and up to date. Those magazines can get you back in baseball mode but good luck using those as your primary draft guides.

I doubt any of us seriously use magazines as a drafting tool, but they are more interesting to read in the tub than the magazines that the wife buys and leaves lying around.


Now i did say more interesting to READ, I didnt say anything about being more fun to look at the pics

Not that I really care about mags or Sporting News in general. That said does anyone know if they have auction values? I would think they do and if so might give it a look as I'm doing my first and could use something as a guide anyways.
