How would people rate Alexi Casilla going into 2009?

He put up some pretty good numbers last year while hitting for the Twins in the #2 spot. Is there any room for improvement? Could Casilla end up being a player like Jose Lopez but with more steals?

I'm wondering if anyone expects better production from guys like Kendrick, Weeks, Fontenot, Ellis, or Cano.

i will NEVER own weeks again.... BUM

cano- who knows if he'll ever put it together, he won't be getting the "3rd or 4th" best 2B rank this year tho

i'd rather wait late and take a guy like casilla than waste a pick on the two mentioned above....

howie kendrick is too soft for me too, can't stay healthy....

sleeper, Aaron Hill out with a concussion mosta the year 2008, his 2007 stats showed he was due for a monster year, maybe 2009?....

I think Casilla will be ok. I don't think I would count on too much improvement. Cano should rebound some and he will fall further in the draft so he may have good value. Weeks will be on my watch list only . He killed me last year. Lopez seems a better bet to be solid again.
The way I see 2nd base , is that if you don't get one of the top 7 ( Utley,Pedroia, Kinsler, Phillips, Roberts, Uggla, and Ramirez ) then you may as well wait until the late rounds to get value from that position. Between Lopez, Cano, DeRosa, Polanco, Kelly Johnson, Iwamura,Casilla, Kendrick, or Ian Stewart , one or more of these will be available real late in the draft. No need to hurry. There's also Hudson and Hill that may be ok also.

I don't think Casilla has alot of value in shallow leagues. Think Jason Bartlett type numbers (maybe a little better). His HR's were flukey last year and for some reason ran less than expected.

I think in bigger leagues (16 or more teams) he is a decent option.

If your league plays with MI (with 12 or more teams) he could provide some SBs and Rs
if he bats 2nd again for the Twins.
