Nomar or Renteria ?

i think its very close. on stats alone it's too close to call. the fact that you have to take nomar in the first and renteria falls to the second(or the third in yahoo leagues) makes renteria the better value pick.

i agree... DEFINITELY gotta go with nomah without hesitation... true, their numbers were pretty close last year and renteria is only improving, but c'mon guys... nomar has been as consistent as anyone in baseball... w/ a career .323 BA and a lock to be around 30 110 with another chance at 120 R this year... u've gotta give nomar his props. not to mention, nomar had 20 SBs last year... not too shabby. given he's playing with some fire this year, expect even bigger #s this year from mia ham's hottie.

Just compare Nomar's best years to Renteria's and I think the choice is pretty obvious. Of course Nomar's average was rediculous pre-wrist injury. I don't know if he will get back to those levels again.

I should have mentioned I have the 5th pick, where I will take
Beltran or Helton. I figure there is no chance Nomar is available
at 15, where I hope to grab Renteria.

I sure as heck wouldn't take Nomah (haha, that cracks me up) with my 5th pick overall and you are probably right in that he won't make it to your next pick.

Renteria (IMO) is a valid mid-to-late 2nd round pick. Not too many really solid options at SS.

As far as who I would rather have, I would have to say Nomah with the only downside being his health concerns. He always seems to spend time on the DL. At least when I own him he does.

i took nomar #18 overall... so u may have a shot... if he's available at #15, he'd still make a pretty good pick.

I'd take Renteria over Nomar even though it's Nomar's contract year. Why? Nomar has poor stats when he's away from Fenway. Also, although Renteria lacks HR power, he makes up for it by stealing. If your league counts Steals, it obviously is more scarce than HRs.

Edit: It's also Renteria's contract year as well. That's if you believe in the contract-year myth.

Is there a specific reason you guys aren't also talking about Tejada as well? Personally, I seem to prefer Tejada over Renteria but I could be convinced otherwise. I have the #18 overall pick (along with #3 which I suspect I will go Soriano) and I was kind of targeting Tejada but if there's some better logic please let me know.
