FWIW he looks like he is in much better shape. As a Braves fan, I wouldn't mind having him back if the contract was reasonable. Here is a video of him taking BP with Chipper and McCann.

Watching the video he does look in better shape. I'm with you haymarket, as another Braves fan I'd like to see him come back. Last year I missed watching him lazily going after fly balls.

For what it's worth, the guy's on MLBNetwork (Reynolds, Larkin, Leiter) are all pretty convinced he's in for a resurgence in 09. As a few others have mentioned, he is in much better shape...

Ok, he's in better shape...so will that help him from bailing and swinging at every pitch? His average has suffered due to his lack of batting discipline. If he would stand in there and be willing to hit balls where they are...and take some to the opposite field..take a few walks...and sign a low dollar high incentive contract...I'd say bring him back. Otherwise, you might as well sign Sammy Sosa. :-t

Do the Braves really want him back though? Who else out there would be willing to take a flier on this guy? I'm assuming he would only command a min. salary. Maybe the Marlins or Mariners or another fairly low-market team?

Mariners should make a play on him. He can still play the field, and if his bat heats up it will help the Mariners out a lot.

(it looks like) They plan on going into the season with Josh Anderson as their CF. No harm in giving him a shot.
