Keeper Help

Postby eclecticj » Thu Jan 01, 2009 11:17 pm

Playing in a 12 team H2H league, 5X5 scoring - we keep 12 players per year. I am pretty solid on my first 11, with my roster looking this way assuming I keep the 11:

C -
1B - Joey Votto
2B-
3B- Garret Atkins
SS- Jose Reyes
OF- Nick Markakis
OF- Matt Holliday
OF - BJ Upton
Util - Jay Bruce

SP - Tim Lincecum
SP - Brandon Webb
SP - John Lackey
RP-
RP-
P - Joba Chamberlain
P -
P -

Other possibilities (need to figure out one more keeper from this group): Harang, Slowey, Oliver Perez, Thome, Giambi, Snell

I'm leaning most heavily towards Harang or Slowey. jI think I like Slowey a bit more all things being equal, but I think Harang will cost me a higher pick if I redraft him than Slowey will. Thoughts?

Semi-relatedly.. any opinions on when to target Wieters? It seems as though Wieters will be more highly regarded this year than most prospects over the years. Anyway, I definitely want to acquire Wieters but am trying to keep from overpaying for him.

Thanks in advance!

Out of that group I'd say that Slowey would be the lowest risk, by far at this moment in time.
Harang blowing a gasket in '08 (especially under Dusty) is really worrying.

If you really want a player badly, just get him. That's what I go by. ;-D

I'd got with Harang. Before last year he was incredibly consistant and durable. It just seems like his 2008 season was an abberration.

Harang is way better than Slowey. Bad year, that's all. Harang will have like 50+ more Ks than Slowey with similar-to-better ratios.

Harang last year was the fluke he'll go back to top 15-20 pitcher this year.

I'd take my chances on Harang again.

I'd go Harang only because your utility slot is full....otherwise it'd definitely be Thome.
