I thought if I could get a solid third baseman I could move Tex and grab Pujols with the first pick. I doubt he falls to me with the third pick. Sizemore or Utley would be my # 3 pick. I'm leaning toward Utley even if he isn't 100 % by the opening of the season. I can get a good replacement in my 12 team until he comes back. Plus having both Reyes and Utley fill two tough middle spots and I get power and speed back with Utley along with batting average. But it would be toughto pass on Sizemore at # 3

obviously trading tex to open up a spot for pujols would be ideal, but if you can't get the value you deserve out of trading him, i just don't think it's worth it. have you tried miggy for wright or something like that?

I have a note to the owner of Wright but haven't heard back. That was almost a week ago. I look at a no reply as a NO.

I think you have to figure out a way to keep both and to target a third baseman in the draft. There are only about 7 or 8 players I would consider straight up for Tex, and while there are numerous combos I'd consider, I have never been a huge fan of the 2 for 1 if I am getting the 2 players.

I should have added. The list of third baseman so far going back to the draft is weak. Thats another reason I am trying to get a top third baseman now. These are the best so far. Could be others thrown back but not much better or they would be kept.
Casey Blake, Carlos Guillen, Wes Helms, Willie Aybar and Brandon Inge lead theway. I do have Ian Stewart and Hank Blalock on my team now. Stewart is a bench player unless somebody gets traded or injured.Blalock could be a sleeper.Qualifies at first and third in my league. 20 games.
I sent another note the the owner of David Wright. I offered M. Cabrera or Teixiera and his choice of two players. Carlos Pena , Hank Blalock or Adam Wainright to go with either of the two first baseman.
I also offered him Jason Bay for Kevin Youkilis straight up. He is a Sox fan.

Offering Tex + 2 or Cab + 2 is overkill. Don't overpay. I am actually not that down on the Youk trade, but Bay is probably better.

The guys in my league fall in love with their players. They also don't look at baseball all year like I do. I thought by making a good offerit would get their attention. I doubt I can get Wright or Longoria. I might be able to pull off the Ramirez plus a # 3 rounder for Texiera and my 10th or 11th rounder. This owner seems to be pretty active all year. He is also the same one that offered me Derek Lee and a 3rd for Texiera and my 9th.

Just be careful not to offer too much. Most of the trades you have discussed are definitely not in your favor. The Derrek Lee one easily being the worst.

Trade update. The owner of David Wright contacted me last night. He is willing to trade Wright to me for Miggy Cabrera but also wants me to include my 4th round pick for his 6th round pick. Both Cabrera and Wright can be kept for three more years. I offered Cabrera and a couple of players in place of the pick swaps but he declined. I then sent him an offer of Teixiera ( he can be kept for two more years ) and the picks he asked for in exchange for Wright . Thoughts?
Another note. I found out the GM with the second pick in the draft wants Pujols.I have the first and the third.Think I should try to work out a deal with him for the first pick ? I would then take Reyes and either Sizemore and Utley with the second and third picks. he told me he wanted Sizemore with his pick but when I told him I was looking at Sizemore he said I called his bluff. He really wanted Pujols. What would you do in this case?

Personally I would stay for now especially since you have picks 1 and 3, I think you have to draft Reyes at #1 and then either pick Utley or Sizemore at #3 (I would probably pick Sizemore but thats up to you
