Looking to trade Teixeria

Postby Surfs up » Thu Jan 01, 2009 12:26 pm

I have both Miggy Cabrera and Teixiera. I'm looking to move Tex. He has two years left on his contract. I also have the first pick in the draft. Pujols is avalible. And so is Jose Reyes. I would like to get a third baseman for Tex. I have proposed a couple of offers for Arod but he is not interested. The owner of David Wright isn't either. The leaves Longoria or Amaris Ramirez. Both can be kept three more years.I tried a couple of time to get Longoria last year. He wouldn't budge. Ramirez is a better shot but I like Tex more even with a year less. Would asking him to include a middle round pick with Ramirez be asking too much? I would have to give a pick back. Maybe something around 13-14/ We all have to have 16 total picks. Ideas? Anybody else I should look at?

Tex and a late round pick for Aramis and a mid round pick should do it.

I agree this should be enough for him to take the trade, but I don't think that's worth it for you. I am assuming M-Cab is still eligible at third for one more year. Given this, why don't you target a young third baseman in your draft to replace Cabrera when he is no longer eligible. Tex is a first-round talent and his value is only going to be better now that he's in New York.

Another thought I had was trading Jason Bay straight up for Kevin Youkilis. He is a Red Sox fan. Both have three years left.Think I should look into this before offering Tex for Ramirez and picks?
Side note. Cabrera is NOT elegible at third. We require 20 games. So he is first only.Thats why I'm looking to move Tex.Plus Miggy has three years left and Tex only two. Ramirez has three years left.
I did get an offer of Derek Lee and his 3rd round pick for Tex and my 9th round pick which I rejected.

If MCab can still play third in your league, I'd agree with this. Let Tex have a full season in NY to increase his value for 2010.

If Miggy could still play third for me I wouldn't be moving Tex.

Then my 1st post stands, Tex & a late pick for Aramis and a middle pick should do it.

How about keping Tex and offering up Jason Bay for Youkilis?

i honestly don't like any of the trades mentioned so far. i think teixeira is worth quite a bit more than a-ram and a mid round pick, and like bay more than youk. honestly if those are the best trades you can do i'd just stand pat and draft reyes over pujols (assuming you only have 1 1B and 1 UTIL slot and nowhere to put a 3rd 1B). you might have better luck getting full value for mcab, but i just don't think it's worth it to trade away players for less than full value before the draft just to fill another position.

I actually have the first and third picks. I like Reyes with the # 1 pick since I do have Tex and Miggy. I thought if I could get a solid third baseman I could move Tex and grab Pujols with the first pick. I doubt he falls to me with the third pick. Sizemore or Utley would be my # 3 pick. I'm leaning toward Utley even if he isn't 100 % by the opening of the season. I can get a good replacement in my 12 team until he comes back. Plus having both Reyes and Utley fill two tough middle spots and I get power and speed back with Utley along with batting average. But it would be toughto pass on Sizemore at # 3
