Dynasty trade help...

Postby Big Cat Court » Wed Dec 31, 2008 9:46 am

Full dynasty H2H league, 15 minors spots. Trade is as follows:

I Give Up: Granderson, Cain, Garza, Capps
I Get: Peavy, Marmol, Milledge, Jensen Lewis (just a throw in, I suppose).

The other important pieces on my team, in terms of helping make a decision on this trade:

My outfield has Markakis and Guerrero, as well as Adam Jones and Travis Snider as youngsters. My rotation has Hamels, Lackey, Liriano, Beckett, Verlander.

I am not sure what I think about this offer. I love getting Peavy, who is a young (27) stud, and adding him to my rotation would make it lights out. Cain / Garza are both full of upside and are even younger, however, so it pains me to give them both up. Marmol is an upgrade over Capps. Granderson is real good, but may have peaked in 2007. Between Milledge, Snider, Jones there is a decent chance one of them rises up and plays as well as Granderson anyway.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for helping on mine.....

It looks like you've got a handle on things. I really like Garza and I think he'll be stud. I'd hate to give him up. I'm not that high on Milledge. Peavy and Marmol are a couple of studs, so I guess they make the deal worth doing, but I'd still hate like hell giving up Garza.

You have to give to get in this world. I guess I'd pull the trigger with one eye closed.

Man, that's a tough one. I think you are getting the best player (Peavy) but at what price? If Peavy ends up being traded, he has the San Diego advantage gone plus you are giving up Granderson, Garza and Cain?? Seems like too much. I would say no. Thanks for your help.

I'd make the deal.

Peavy > Cain/Garza
Marmol> Capps
Milledge=< Granderson, but closer than most would think
Lewis is a wildcard

Peavy is the difference maker here

That's quite a handful to give up for Peavy. I think Granderson for Peavy sounds fair, but Cain/Garza/Capps to Marmol/Milledge sounds fairly steep. The X-factor would have to be Cain if he can sort out those control issues, but it seems like we've been yapping about that in forever and a day. I think eventually Marmol will close (but keep in mind Piniella prefers him setting up) and Milledge has the potential to break out a la Corey Hart as soon as this year, I'd believe. So, it might sound steep now but it's not quite as lopsided as you think. If you don't mind slightly overpaying for Peavy, it's fine.

i'd pass, as much as i like getting the best player in a deal, i think you're just giving up too much. cain just turned 24 and can't continue to be as unlucky as he has been with run support and i quite like garza as well. marmol has a better skill set than capps, but i think capps has a more clear cut shot at the closer role so that's pretty much a wash. granderson and peavy are also pretty close in value with peavy getting the edge. milledge + the upgrade from granderson to peavy just isn't worth cain and garza imo.

I would rather keep what you have. Peavy is nice, but I think the guys you would have to give up is just too much. Stand pat. Thanks for helping on mine.
