it kinda depends on who you have to take over at 2B, and how the extra money you're taking on is going to effect your salary cap, but i would probably make it not knowing any of that. i love votto and am not a big fan of uggla this year, lackey also gives you the ace your staff needs and while you're losing a cheap, young closer, saves are such a volatile stat that i don't mind trading him away for the return you're getting.

I think I'd make the trade knowing that Votto can be had for dirt cheap. I'm not ecstatic about Uggla myself either, though he's had for a very reasonable price, I'd say. I'm not very high on Lackey but $19 sounds reasonable enough while although Broxton is the frontrunner for the Dodgers' closing job, unless he builds up his stamina to last well for a full season, I'm personally not too keen on thinking he's very valuable because of his cheap price.

The downside I can see from this is it'll be hard to recover what kind of power production you'll miss from Uggla at 2B, let alone the extra cash you'd have to spend coming your way.

Exactly. thank you both for your replies. My dilemna is what am I going to find come re-draft time for a 2B. I know SP will be available (Peavy, Santana) - although it will be overpriced, but I will have the $$.

I love Votto, to be honest...so I think I might just go for it...thanks again

I would not make the trade, as i will note that I think you do have a legit ace in Liriano. Don't underestimate him...he could easily be one of the top 5 fantasy pitchers this year. You also have Galladro, who is a potential ace-lite. He was mentioned in the same breath with Lincecum coming into the season last year (plus Scherzer, who has ace-stuff and will have a rotation spot).

I think that what I would most likely do is try and move Cliff Lee, since I don't think his value will ever be any higher than it is now. I would target some of the pitchers with more ace-like stuff, but without the results to back it up yet. Maybe someone would bite on Cliff Lee for Matt Cain or something to that effect. Or Cliff Lee and someone else for a real legitimate ace, like a peavy.

Help me out!
