Ryan Howard/ Baumgarner for Morneau/ Cliff Lee- dynasty

Postby yankeekd25 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 1:06 pm

I trade R Howard and Madison Bumgarner for Morneau and Lee. I'm not to familiar with Baumgarner but there's no guarantee Lee produces like he did last year. The league will eventually start to figure him out. Howard could win me HRs and RBIs but he will kill my average. What should I do?

Take Bumgarner out of the equation. He's a special talent and your minor leaguer with the most upside. There's no reason he has to be added in.

So, now the trade becomes a late 1(Howard) for an early 3/late 2 (Morneau) and an early 6/late 5 (Lee). This is a fair trade, but I personally would pass since I generally dislike giving up the most talented player. The later posters will probably be 50-50 on this.

Keep Howard, I'm betting on his BA. being north of .280 for '09.

I'd rather have Howard. Even though he could pan out to be an average liability again, Howard still carries a somewhat rare potential for 50 HR. I don't think Cliff Lee will fold like an accordion for '09, but I'd rather have the better 1B in Howard and see how Bumgarner pans out.

Keep Howard and Bumgarner. Howard is an upgrade power-wise over Morneau, while Bumgarner is going to have a much better career than Cliff Lee in my opinion.
