Time to start thinking keepers..3 of them...WHIR

Postby AshesOfEmpires » Mon Dec 29, 2008 2:57 pm

Entering the 6th year of my 10 team 3 keeper H2H league and I need to decide who to keep. These are the top guys from my title winning team last year. Time to be the first team in league to repeat. I know who 2 of my keepers are, it's just the third one I'm wondering about. Actually I'm pretty sure the final keeper is between two guys. I would just like some others' opinions.

David Wright, Miguel Cabrera, Nick Markakis, Carlos Beltran, Adrian Gonzalez, Dan Uggla, Vernon Wells, Jacoby Ellsbury, Roy Halladay

DWright and MCab are sure-fire keepers - to them, I think I would add Adrian Gonzalez, and it's not even that close. I don't see Beltran putting together 40 HR ever again and I don't think Markakis is worth as much as Gonzo. This is all IMO, of course, but I just like the power at the corner spots and Util right off the bat :-D

Wright and Cabrera are no-brainers. I'd go with Beltran for the third keeper.

Wright and M-Cab are definites. It's close between Beltran and Markakis in my mind for the last keeper spot, but I think I'd give the nod to Beltran still.

Assuming there is no cap on how long you can keep these guys, I'd go Wright, M-Cab and Markakis. I think Beltran will be mildly better this year then Markakis, but I think it's a real toss up. Considering how close it is for this year, I think I'd go with the younger option who could actually exceed what he's done to date. I also think eventually the running will stop for Beltran, and he will lose a decent chunk of value at that point.

Thanks for the help with mine.

Thanks for helping on mine......

I'm going to go against the grain here a little bit. I always like a little balance with my keepers. I believe my three would be Wright, Cabrera, and Halladay.

Wright, Cabrera, Halladay for me. If you don't want to keep a pitcher, I would rank the other options Beltran, Markakis, Gonzalez, although I agree that if there is no limit on how long you can keep players I would probably give Markakis the edge.

Help me out!
