keeper trade: Hamilton for Holliday/BJ?

Postby clevername » Sun Dec 28, 2008 1:22 pm

I've been offered Matt Holliday and BJ Upton for Josh Hamilton in one of my keeper leagues. This is a pre-keeper deadline deal, so it's really Holliday/Upton for Hamilton/whoever gets bumped from my keeper list for me, so I'm looking for some advice.

We keep 6. My keeper pool right now is Morneau, Wright, Berkman, Hamilton, Justin Upton, Furcal, Sheets, and Burnett with Delmon Young there but not filling me with happy feelings.

I'm basically looking at the first six from that list as the keepers right now, so...is Holliday out of Coors plus BJ worth more than Hamilton plus Justin Upton or one of the Furcal/Sheets/Burnett/Young mish mash?

At this point I'm leaning towards taking the deal, keeping the Upton brothers, and forgetting about Furcal/Sheets/Burnett/Young since that's a maelstrom of questionable players, even with the questions about Holliday in Oakland.

There are still questions about Hamilton so I'd make the trade.

i'd make the trade and then keep:

Wright
Holliday
Berkman
BJ Upton
Morneau
Justin Upton/Burnett

first 5 are easy keeps, the last spot is kinda up in the air imo. it's a tough decision as upton should contribute next year but is still probably a couple years away from being great, and burnett could be a monster on the yankees if he's healthy. both have a ton of upside, but also some risk, so i think that one just comes down to personal preference.

Agreed, make the deal and I'd keep JUpton over Burnett.

Yes, I'd make the trade and I'd keep Justin Upton as the 6th and final keeper.

thanks all.

That was my general inclination when I made the thread. I was just thinking too much about it and wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

After reviewing it a bit more this afternoon it was pretty much a no brainer and I've accepted the trade.

Yeah you have to take that deal and keep both Upton's. I'm just repeating everyone else here. ;-D
